#EQUALFOREACH was the theme for the day. Women and girls gathered in at Kiboro grounds in preparation for the football match. “it’s a sunny and hot day but I am ready to join my fellow women in celebrating international women’s day” Grace* a young girl residing in Mathare said. Bar Hostess Empowerment and Support Program (BHESP) also took part in the activity in which was held on Friday the 6th of March.
Dressed in a white jazzy, Christine* from BHESP, shared her views of the day; “this has posed as a great opportunity for me as a woman to acquire free medical services which I would have being charged were it an outside facility.”
The event was full of glamour and splendor as residents both male and female alike came out in large numbers to celebrate their favorite team. With every goal we score, we celebrate how far we have come from both individually and as a group” said Alaine a paralegal at BHESP.
Lastly, this event provided a platform where women could celebrate their social, political and cultural achievements both from the past and the present.
